Save the Frogs 2017!

Save the Frogs Day 2017-
sponsored and organized by Team My Little Python-the HOMe Animal Study club

April 21, 2017, 1:00-3:00 PM, Ellendale Park, Bartlett, TN
In case of severe weather, this event will be held April 28, at Freeman-Smith Park in Bartlett, TN.

Join us as we celebrate our amazing world and the awesome amphibians that share it.  This event is in celebration of the Worldwide Save the Frogs Day on April 29, Earth Day on April 22, and the March for Science on April 22.

Activities will include, but not limited to:

Save the frogs/Earth Day project display. All homeschoolers are welcome to bring an art or science project related to environmental science to share. We want to recognize our participants, so please let us know if your child is bringing one. All projects should be self-contained, since electrical hookups are limited. Please no live animals, we need to stay in compliance with park rules.

Save the Frogs activities, Including a Frog on a Blog art and poetry station in honor of Save the Frogs day. We would love to fill social media with awesome frog and environmental and science art and poetry this weekend. Save the Frogs! also has art and poetry contests.  Remember to write your name on any art you create so you can be credited on My Little Python.

  • Dissection alternatives, life cycle, crafts, and games. (More specifics to come)
  • Salamander Survival game
  • Frog call chorus
  • A “Frog egg hunt”-please bring 1 dozen filled eggs for each child participating.

A Homeschool/Kids book sale to benefit Save the Frogs! Please bring any books you would like to donate to this sale, and come prepared to buy to benefit worldwide amphibian conservation. Other items may also be sold, including animal-related toys your kids no longer play with that are in good condition or anything you think can be sold to help Save The Frogs!

Please post if you can bring snacks and supplies, or if you wish to provide an activity. We look forward to seeing you there!

  1. Frog spawn has been observed at Ellendale Park, so we should have a nice population to observe. If anyone has a folding table, please bring it-it looks like table space will be at a premium, and we have a LOT of activities planned!

  2. We may also be bringing animal X-rays and snake sheds to look at! We just filled over 6 dozen frog eggs, so even if you didn't bring eggs, your child can still participate.

  3. We will also be doing a frog chorus-so come prepared with your favorite frog call, or come ready to learn some new ones!

  4. Post-Easter frog egg sales start Monday!
